My passion for Chinese Medicine was first sparked by my experience as a patient.
Following three knee surgeries, my career as a dancer led me to discover Pilates at Performance Arts Physical Therapy in NYC. In my early twenties, I decided to go into business for myself and started Connecticut’s first Pilates studio. The business grew with stunning speed – leaving me breathless as I struggled to keep up. Like so many others in the work force, my health suffered as a result of the long hard hours I was putting in. Ultimately, I ended up with a severe case of pneumonia.
I had a hard time fully recovering. I caught frequent colds, felt rundown and had difficulty getting through the day. In search of a solution, I looked into Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, subjects I was always curious about. I started seeing a well-respected acupuncturist and before long, herbs replaced inhalers and acupuncture helped restore the balance my body had lost.
I was astounded at the results and began reading everything I could relating to Chinese Medicine. Through my research I discovered the Chinese theories and perspectives on the world and our bodies made intuitive sense to me. I felt compelled to take my life in a new direction.
