"A Different Approach to Physical Therapy -Helping You Feel Like Your Self Again"
I am often asked how and why I decided to enter into this very specialized area of physical therapy.
As far back as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by the human body and how it works. I also knew that I wanted a career in healthcare in which I could help people. My mother was a nurse, I was an athlete and dancer and I absolutely loved my high school anatomy class. I decided to go into physical therapy rather than other areas of medicine because I felt that I’d be able to treat a wider array of conditions and felt that this profession would allow me to spend more time with my patients. I was also growing increasingly concerned that women were (and still are) the largest consumers of health care and yet there are very few practitioners that specialize in women’s bodies. I learned this first-hand through my own personal struggle with pelvic pain.
Specifically, for over 4 years, I suffered from pain with intercourse. Everything I read stated that there was no cure. This was not only hard to accept, but I didn’t believe it and continued on my journey to find a solution. Through my quest, I finally found a combination of medical professionals, including an MD, a nurse practitioner and a physical therapist that were all instrumental in me getting my life back. As a result of my experience and what I had learned, the human body has become my passion. Nothing is more rewarding for me than working in a profession where I can help people change their bodies in ways that allow them to enjoy a more satisfying, fulfilling and pain free life.
As a licensed physical therapist and owner of A Different Approach – PT for Women, LLC, I am honored to be a part of a women’s recovery and wellness.
